About Us 🍵
What is a Sandbox?
A sandbox (according to Merriam-Webster Dictionary) is
"a place, area, or environment that provides opportunities for variation and experimentation in a way suggestive of children playing in a sandbox" ⚽️
"a video game or part of a video game in which the player is not constrained to achieving specific goals and has a large degree of freedom to explore, interact with, or modify the game environment" 🎮
Sandbox, in essence, is a sandbox. Through this organization, we are creating a platform through which students are encouraged to take the initiative to dive deep into topics that interest them, collaborate with others, and chase their dreams.
Sandbox strives to nurture a curious mind and intrinsic motivation within youth to inspire them.
We at Sandbox believe every single person has limitless potential—and we can help facilitate "experimentation" as you find your interests and explore it endlessly!

Accessibility
The college admissions process is riddled with inequities—applicants admitted to elite schools disproportionately have access to resources that provide them inexhaustible opportunities for success.
College consulting is expensive and accessible only to the privileged—and Sandbox hopes to disrupt this trend.
We're committed to ensuring students who need help receive it—whether it be through a walkthrough of the formidable "Common App" Essay or simply providing them a safe space they can talk about life in.
Intersectionality
Intersectionality is defined as "the interconnected nature of social categorizations such as race, class, and gender as they apply to a given individual or group, regarded as creating overlapping and interdependent systems of discrimination or disadvantage" (Oxford Languages).
Sandbox is dedicated to the understanding of how intersectionality affects individuals in different ways.
We are an inclusive organization—no matter your socioeconomic status, ethnicity, background, sexuality, religion, educational background, self-expression, ability, etc., you will always be welcome at Sandbox. 🥰
